The Founder
The pandemic sapped my desire to create a new collection and I haven’t looked back since. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do next but I pledged it must do better for the environment and people. So, when I read that brands landfill returned items whether worn or not because it is cheaper than restocking them, I sought to find a solution, especially as returned items gets dumped in African countries where it competes with the local industry and makes people poorer. I truly want to build something that you would love and use and together change the way we consume fashion.My research led me to speaking with a group of women who prefer shopping online than in-store: plus-size women. Have you ever felt like searching for clothes that fits your unique body shape and your personal style can be time-consuming and demoralising? Now add lack of choice and representation of your body shape, which results in body shame, if you are plus-size.Returns due to fit go way beyond the issue of non-standardisation of sizing. As a designer and astute pattern-cutter, I recognise the fashion industry’s design methodology is no longer fit for today’s woman, who is on average size 16 and over. I designed my solution, Flatter My Figure, for real women. This solution combines my two careers: 20 years in fashion design and a decade in software engineering.I am an alumna of Central School of Fashion and Imperial College London, a female entrepreneur with a unique career in Fashion and Tech, which gives our solution an edge over our competitors who are tech providers. I've won two innovation grants for this solution from Innovate UK and Worth EU. Plus, the Turing Institute is assisting in developing our ethical Machine Learning model. 2. Once we receive payment, we will send you instructions on how to get measured.
3. Please book your appointment to meet with me and our stylist for the online consultation here.
4. During this 45-minute consultation, we will assist you in measuring yourself and learn about your style. You will select a category and we will provide you with a list of 5 well-fitting clothing, which you can opt to buy or not. As our process is currently manual, while we build the app, it will take 3-5 days to manually complete this process.
5. We will then meet with you again for 15 minutes to get your feedback on how you felt the process went. If you are not happy, we will refund you.
